Generators are also known to convert mechanical energy and act as a very good source of emf. Thus, the effectiveness of a closed circuit is much more promising than an open electrical circuit. The current passes through the switch and reaches and starts the generator. In a battery, a conducting wire is joined to a bulb. This can be seen in the case of generators and batteries. This is because of the movement of the electric current which readily moves from the source and produces energy. So we see that changing the magnitude or direction of a magnetic field produces an emf. Note the generator is very similar in construction to a motor.
